October 2022 Roundup

A recap of my blog and life from October 2022.

Blog

I got my first paycheck from WordPress Ads. It’s taken me well over a year and I had to make $100 before I could get paid, but it happened during a time I needed it.

I’m also glad I managed to post something this month since I didn’t during September. The last few months have really had some ups and downs, so I’m just happy I posted something. Like usual, I hope to post more in the next.

Personal

Health Crap

I completely forgot I had a cold in the beginning of the month thanks to the very shitty yeast infection I got. I was put on an antibiotic from my dentist, which caused the infection, and I should have either called the dentist about it or my doctor because I just rode it out (well, tried to) and it became very hard to get rid of.

I was also having pretty bad pelvic pain because of it so now I have to get an ultrasound of my uterus to make sure everything is okay.

As of me posting this, I’m feeling better but but the pelvic pain is still hanging around so I’ve got a few days until I get the ultrasound. And I’m pretty nervous about it so here’s hoping everything’s okay.

Financial Issues

Like the health stuff, this had to happen at the same time as well. Last month, I took five days off, which I didn’t get paid for, and then my car needed fixed for $650, and along with taking a small trip and starting to buy holiday presents, it was a rough couple of weeks.

Botanical Gardens

If I never mentioned it, my family has season passes to the botanical gardens in Pittsburgh, so we were able to make it there this month for their carnival theme. It’s been a while so I’m happy to have made it. But I’m really looking forward to their holiday light show that’s coming up.

We Rescued a Kitten

So, just a few days ago, I noticed a kitten hanging around out yard, and if you know the story of the cat who gave birth in our garage, and whose kittens we adopted, she’s still here. But I am buckling down this month and attempting to catch and get her or any other cat fixed after talking to a few different places.

Granted I don’t know if this kitten is hers but it looked so small and a little concerning. Not so much sick but out of it, until my sister and I attempted to catch it. Then it was rearing to run away.

But we did catch it and it’s currently chilling in our basement in an old dog crate until we can take it to the vet tonight. We’re not sure what’s going to happen after that. Ideally, we hope someone will adopt them but I’m just be concerned they’d take them as a kitten and get rid of them as an adult. We also have to make sure the kitten is okay health-wise.

However, we did name the kitten Gouda.

Accomplishments

  • I was still able to workout most of the month despite everything
  • Really watched my spending
  • Went to the dentist for the first time in years
  • I actually worked on my book, which I haven’t all year
  • Did a big clean up of the house
  • Got out of the house a lot
  • I signed up for Healthi, which is a health tracking app and I’m enjoying it so far
  • Rescued a kitten

Favorites

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

I’m not doing a review for She-Hulk. Even though I did enjoy the show despite some of its issues, I’m honestly glad it’s over so I don’t have to see anymore debates and rants about it. I get why people don’t like it (when the reasons are valid) and I get why people do.

For me, it was just 30 minutes of switching my brain off and getting a break from the other serious shows out right now. I didn’t take it too seriously and found it funny, but that’s me personally.

And that’s all I’m going to say about She-Hulk.

All Of the Marvel Trailers

I wasn’t expecting to get three new trailers this month, but I’m excited for everything that’s next. Obviously, I’m super excited for Black Panther and expect to cry numerous times. I’m also really enjoying the specials Marvel is making, and I love that we get another holiday centered one.

And I was looking forward to Ant-Man because of Kang (the Ant-Man movies aren’t my favorites but I like the characters) but the trailer actually got me interested beyond Kang.

Wendell and Wild (Netflix)

I had definitely seen something about this but wasn’t considering watching it until my sister demanded we do. Jordan Peele is one of the producers and there’s a lot of noticeable voices in the cast.

But I did end up enjoying this movie. It’s message centers around grief and death but also forgiving yourself and moving on. The characters are very diverse. It’s also stop-motion and done in the same style as A Nightmare Before Christmas. I do recommend checking it out, especially to give stop-motion more attention.

November Goals

Look, I’m not asking for much. I just want to stay healthy, save money, and deal with a root canal I have to get at the beginning of the month.

What To Look Forward To

  • Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
  • Putting out Christmas decorations
  • Wednesday (Netflix)
  • Being done with this yeast infection crap

Also, Happy Halloween!
